No Bullying Policy
St. John’s School has a strict No Bullying Policy. We believe that every child has the right to attend school in a secure, nurturing environment. Teachers seek to develop a positive class identity and an atmosphere of cooperation and helpfulness, rather than one of competition. Classes discuss in detail conduct that is inappropriate and the effects of unkind words or actions. Bullying can include, but is not limited to, insults, name calling, threats, teasing, intimidating, pushing, shoving, kicking, spreading rumors, destroying someone’s belongings, ignoring or excluding someone, writing any negative or threatening comments to or about another person.
Throughout the next few weeks, class rules against bullying will be posted as well as consequences for such actions. Students and parents will sign pledges which attest to their participation in this program.
We acknowledge that this policy cannot eliminate all bullying instances. However, with the cooperative effort of the administration, the teaching staff, and the students and their parents, we hope to make our school a safe place where learning can take place.
