Grade 2 Summer Reading
Dear Boys and Girls,

During the summer you must read two books independently and write two book reports on them. The authors and series are typical reads for a child entering 2nd grade.
For the first book report, pick one of these series or authors to read and write about:

·       Dragon Series by Dav Pilkey
·       Froggy Series by Jonathan London
·       Frog and Toad Series by Arnold Lobel
·       Poppleton Series by Cynthia Rylant
·       Mr. Putter and Tabby Series by Cynthia Rylant
·       Henry and Mudge Series by Cynthia Rylant
·       Franklin Series by Paulette Bourgeois

For the second book report, please read:

Get Ready for Second Grade, Amber by Paula Danzinger

Reports are due the first day of school. Parents can help with sounding out words and spelling.  Children should come up with and write the answers.

Please know that if your child is having trouble with more than five words on one page, then the book is probably too hard for your child to read independently. It would be a better book to read together.
Have a great summer and keep reading!

Love,
Ms. Beth
