The mission of St. John School Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 program is to create a caring environment in which we can educate the whole child in the context of the Catholic faith. Utilizing a rigorous, well-planned and hands on curriculum, we lead children toward spiritual, emotional, moral, intellectual, physical, and social development. Seeing each child as unique with individual and particular interests, strengths and needs, our preschool educators provide a nurturing environment in which children can grow and develop at their own pace while forming a positive self-image and a sense of responsibility and independence. Through positive guidance, unconditional acceptance, and in collaboration with families within our school and parish community, we hope to build a strong foundation for each child’s future.
Throughout the school year, our Pre-K programs explore Building Blocks Math, Opening The World Of Learning (OWL), and Discovering God's Child. TheOWL program focuses on developing language and literacy skills through a detailed daily curriculum. The program focuses on six thematic units consisting of Family, Friends, Wind and Water, The World of Color, Shadows and Reflections, and Things That Grow. Building Blocks Math encourages children to develop mathematical knowledge by engaging in research-based activities that are aligned with state and national standards. Units covered consist of Numbers and Operations, Geometry, Measurement, Patterns and Algebra, Data Analysis and Classification. Discovering God’s Child helps children explore God’s gift of life. Each lesson consists of age appropriate faith-focused activities with language and skills practice, read-to-me pages, and scripture based stories that align with various themes.
